i’m enjoying making fun of dashcon but honestly i feel sick to my stomach
like i’ve seen someone with severe back pains get made fun of for asking for donations to get massages and i’ve seen autistic teenagers attacked for asking for money to continue seeing their doctor and i’ve seen a diabetic begging for enough money to eat everyday but people always critcize it and accuse it of not being a “good enough reason” yet people will senselessly donate 20k to an absolute bullshit convention without checking their sources or criticizing their reasoning like they would with a trans person asking for money to move out of their abusive household or give 70k to someone who wants to make potato salad and it’s gross as hell
sure throw your money away on a joke but at least spare a thought for every signal boost and post from scared, broke minors begging for money that you didn’t donate to because you thought it “just wasn’t important enough” when you’re throwing away thousands to appease superwholocks.
really useful, it’s an auto-redirect script that you can use to “block” someone from a certain IP from viewing your page!
the tumblr logo now perfectly reflects pride in that it has taken a thing which was both aesthetic and practical and made it uglier and completely useless to gratify rich queers
wasting efforts on changing the colour of the logo instead of doing things to make this site safer for actual queer and trans folk
things tumblr needs to stop doing
- making minor useless changes
things tumblr needs to start doing
- releasing urls that have been terminated for 2+ years
- add a “disable reblogging” option for posts
- make blocking people make it so they can’t view your blog and set it up so i can make it when someone who i have blocked goes to my blog it redirects to a black page with white text in the middle that says “go fuck yourself” with a picture of shadow the hedgehog flipping them off
So, I sent a message to Tumblr support about recommended posts, and if you can opt-out of having your own posts be possibly recommended to other blogs, and I just got a reply back. Apparently you can opt out of having your posts be recommended if you turn off “Allow search engines to index your blog” on your blog’s Settings screen.
So now you know, if anybody was concerned about that.
this could be important for anyone who requires controlled anonymity to stay safe
This never even occurred to me. Hell’s no I don’t want to be there.
Tumblr has no effective measures with which users can protect themselves from harassment and threats. We cannot block people to keep them from seeing…
hey y’all - I have finally had enough of the lax stance Tumblr takes toward our safety, so I started a petition. Please sign and share. I know there are many of us on this website who have felt unsafe and are unhappy with the measures Tumblr has in place for our protection. Let’s get their attention and fight for better protection.
i want everyone to be able to feel safe on tumblr - please reblog this and sign the petition! together we can force tumblr to pay attention, but we need visibility!!
Everyone block and report notputtingupwithyourbullshit for harassment.
They refuse to unfollow folks who are made uncomfortable and who feel unsafe with them following them.
Tw on their blog for pedophilia mention, transmisogyny, ableism, racism, ableist slurs, hate breeds hate propaganda, harassment, stalking, and general cishet white douche bullshit.
People who spend their entire time online trolling and harassing others for fun always amaze me for some reason. This asshole needs to get some better hobbies.
This is also a good time to point out how fucking terrible tumblr’s block feature is and how they really need to get with it and give us a proper one. The fact that we have to ask people to unfollow because “blocking” has been only a one-way street on tumblr for years is ridiculous.
Tumblr has recently introduced Sponsored Posts. These posts can come from anyone, regardless of whether or not you follow them, and are primarily for advertising. If you want to block them, simply install Tumblr Savior and blacklist “sponsored_badge_icon” (without the quotes).
Oh wow OK let’s please signal boost this because some recent ones have been GIFs of horror and so on, and that makes Tumblr incredibly unsafe for a good amount of people. S:
